Can you name three words you associate with human trafficking?

  • Inhuman

  • Cruel

  • Slavery

What do you think Denmark can do to prevent the development of human trafficking?

Human trafficking is the most vile and inhumane thing there is. It must and must stop NOW and it is therefore so important that we stand together and make an effort. We must stop the monsters behind the trade in women and children, and not just close our eyes and believe that the problems will disappear by themselves. It is the right of every person to be the master of their own life, but these children and women have been deprived of all rights. This simply cannot be right. There must be enough humanity and care in all of us that we cannot or will not let this happen.

Especially in a country like Denmark, where we have all the options and no one should be able to live like this - it shouldn't be possible at all, because it's SO inhumane. I will do everything in my power to stop it. Finally, with NEWLIVES, there is someone who has decided to lead the fight, and I will walk side by side with them and take up the fight. No one should be forced to live such a life! We must therefore do what it takes to raise awareness that it happens - every day - also in Denmark.

Because only when people stop buying trafficked women and understand that these are women who are beaten, raped, and threatened with death on a daily basis will we be able to end human trafficking.

So if you see or hear something that seems wrong - then react - do something. Imagine if it was your own daughter, wife or sister!

What do you think are the most important challenges surrounding human trafficking in Denmark?

Unfortunately, I think that the biggest challenge in eliminating human trafficking in Denmark is that people unfortunately tend to close their eyes and look the other way - and convince themselves that it is not something they should interfere with and then just continue with their normal lives.

We need to understand that women are being trafficked as slaves EVERY DAY - here in Denmark - and to end it requires that we dare to look beyond the tip of our own nose and actually do something active. When I think of all the women who live in that hell every single day, and how powerless they must feel, it gives me the will and strength to find a solution - because it MUST be found!
